Illegal factories and parking lots encroach on Ai pond land in Cau Giay

    The Ai pond area (Nghia Do ward, Cau Giay district, Hanoi) has become a gathering place for construction materials, waste and a series of illegal factories and parking lots.

    According to Lao Dong, the Ai pond area is located next to Lac Long Quan street (opposite West Lake) and borders Xuan La ward (Tay Ho district), but has been surrounded by corrugated iron for many years and has been encroached upon to build a factory and a construction material gathering place.

    People living around this area said that violations on Ai pond land have been going on for a long time, posing a risk of fire and explosion, causing urban disorder.

    This area is also being turned into a dumping ground by individuals who do business in transporting waste and construction sand.
    “Hang ngay xe ba banh cho dat, phe thai chay trong cac ngo nho khu ao Ai gay mat an toan giao thong, bun dat bi roi vai va bien nhieu phan dien tich dat khu vuc nay thanh diem tap ket rac thai, phe thai xay dung”, Nguyen Huu Cong (phuong Nghia Do, quan Cau Giay) noi.
    “Every day, three-wheeled vehicles carrying soil and waste run through the small alleys of Ao Ai area, causing traffic safety problems. Mud and dirt are scattered and turn much of the land area into a collection point for garbage and construction waste,” said Mr. Nguyen Huu Cong (Nghia Do ward, Cau Giay district).

    Regarding this issue, the People's Committee of Nghia Do Ward said that it has assigned the Urban Department to coordinate with the Ward Police to inspect and resolve the issue according to the citizen's request.

    Vice Chairman of Nghia Do Ward People's Committee - Phan Thi Hai Yen said that the ward's Steering Committee 197 is also handling the case according to regulations, requiring the owners of the establishments to stop illegal business activities at Ai pond land. At the same time, the time for these business owners to liquidate the vehicle storage contract, liquidate and move furniture and equipment out of the encroached area is extended.
