Dong Nai - The steel roof of the Long Thanh airport passenger terminal weighing 5,300 tons was successfully lifted with a towing and pushing solution using a hydraulic shock system.
On April 4, in Dong Nai, Vietur consortium, contractor of package 5.10 "Construction and installation of equipment for passenger terminal works", steel structure member ATAD coordinated with subcontractor VSL to successfully upgrade the steel roof structure of Long Thanh International Airport (abbreviated as Long Thanh airport) by combining the solution of pulling and pushing with the hydraulic shock system (Lifting) after more than 8 days, ensuring accuracy, quality, and safety. The total weight of the steel roof is up to more than 5,300 tons, assembled from 256 connection points, meeting European control standards. The roof has a curved arch structure with an area of nearly 20,000 m2, including a cantilever (cantilever) up to 41 m long that emerges. The entire giant structure is powered by 56 specialized hydraulic shock devices, each of which can withstand a load of 40 to 330 tons, helping to ensure a safe and accurate installation process.According to the Vietnam Airport Corporation (ACV), the successful increase in the steel structure system of the passenger terminal is an important milestone in the construction progress of Long Thanh Airport project, as concluded by the Ministry of Construction: "To ensure the progress of the passenger terminal, the steel structure of the station center is extremely important, deciding on the progress of the whole project. This is also a symbol of technical progress in Vietnam's construction industry, proving the management capacity of the Long Thanh Airport Project Management Board as well as the technical level of the Vietnamese engineer team not inferior to advanced countries in the world. The roof system is divided into many large modules for assembly underground, then lifted. Each modular must be assembled accurately, ensuring no deformation when under pressure during the lifting process. The roof has a curved, wavy structure, with many layers stacked, simulating lotus petals, requiring detailed 3D modeling and accurate calculation to ensure consistency with the overall architecture. This not only requires high aesthetics but also meets the strict technical requirements of an international airport that meets 4F standards according to the International Aviation Organization (ICAO).The technical research, design and preparation of solutions were carried out by the Long Thanh Airport Project Management Board together with the Vietur - ATAD consortium of engineers throughout the 12 months before the construction.Passenger terminal is the most important category at Long Thanh Airport Construction Project. Currently, the station has completed the reinforced concrete structure of the underground part and floors (4 floors), which is installing steel structure, glass wall surface, station equipment; At the end of December 2025, the passenger terminal will basically complete the construction component. The Long Thanh airport construction project is simultaneously implementing bidding packages, in which the runway and connecting traffic route (route T1) will be completed and technically exploited by the end of April 2025, 3 months ahead of schedule. Bidding packages such as: garages, aircraft fuel supply systems, and inland transport are being accelerated, basically completed by the end of this year - 2025.Mr. Duong Quang Dien - Permanent Deputy Director of the Long Thanh Airport Project Management Board said: "In 2025, we are determined to basically complete the construction work of the Long Thanh Airport Project Phase 1".According to ACV, on the construction site, construction units have mobilized hundreds of construction stitches with nearly 10,000 experts, engineers, workers, workers and nearly 3,000 construction equipment to accelerate the construction progress with the basic goal of completing the construction component before December 31, 2025 to welcome the 11th National Delegation Congress of the Party; Celebrating the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; The 50th anniversary of the complete liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.
