According to Decision No. 3033/QD-UBND dated October 21, 2024, the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province officially assigned the People's Committee of Quang Yen town to undertake the task of developing the project, including the establishment of Hiep Hoa and Tien An wards in Quang Yen town and the proposal to establish Quang Yen city.
This decision takes effect from October 21, 2024 and lasts until the National Assembly Standing Committee issues an official resolution.
Quang Yen Town People's Committee will assess the urban infrastructure development situation in the areas where new wards are expected to be established. Report on the possibility of expanding the urban boundaries of Quang Yen.
Quang Yen Town will closely coordinate with the Department of Home Affairs and the Department of Construction to advise the Provincial People's Committee in reporting to the Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Home Affairs and the Government on this project.
On November 1, 2024, Resolution No. 1199/NQ-UBTVQH15 of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units of Quang Ninh province will officially take effect. Accordingly, Dong Trieu town will be upgraded to Dong Trieu city, becoming the 5th city of the province.
If the project to establish Quang Yen City is approved, Quang Ninh will officially have the 6th city under the province, continuing to affirm its position as one of the leading provinces in urbanization and infrastructure development in the North.
