On July 25, the Truth National Political Publishing House announced that the agency had just published the book "Cultural Identification in the Digital Space". The book is written by Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Trong Lam and Dr. Nguyen Viet Lam co-edited.
The book contributes to building a system of theoretical and practical issues on culture in the digital space - a very new and complex content in the context of current digital transformation.
Culture is all tangible and intangible values created by humans; reflecting core values, with identity, distinguishing one community from another, making the world diverse.
In Vietnam, our Party always consistently affirms that culture is the soul of the nation, the spiritual foundation of society, the endogenous strength, the driving force for national development and national defense, and plays a role in regulating the movement of society.
Currently, under the impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, digital transformation is an inevitable trend, a vital issue for the development of countries. Digital transformation has created a new cultural environment for humans, which is the digital environment, the environment on the internet, the virtual environment, in addition to the real environment that we have been and are living in.
In which, digital culture is understood as the method and cultural activity (creation, storage, dissemination, acceptance, enjoyment...) of individuals and communities based on the application of digital means and technology; the rules of conduct (way of life, behavior, way of communication, work...) and the ethical and legal standards of people in the digital environment.
Digital culture helps people access the huge amount of cultural knowledge that has been formed by all of humanity over the course of history and continues to produce new cultural values on the digital platform. Therefore, building a digital culture as well as a digital cultural environment is an issue that is both urgent and has long-term strategic significance, and needs to be implemented synchronously soon to contribute to positioning and strengthening the soft power of Vietnamese culture in the international arena.
The book Cultural Identification in the Digital Space has a structure of 4 chapters, presented scientifically, easy to understand, from world-class practice to Vietnam. The book not only raises general issues but also analyzes in depth the current state of the process of building and developing culture in the digital space in Vietnam.
A highlight of the book is that the authors have spent a lot of time researching digital cultural policies in some regions and developed countries such as: European Union, UK, Spain and some other typical countries. This is an extremely useful source of document for researchers as well as readers to compare and compare with Vietnam in the process of cultural policy making.
In particular, the authors have cleverly raised the issue of developing digital culture in connection with Ho Chi Minh's ideology on culture; with the viewpoint of the Party and State of Vietnam on culture and digital culture, emphasizing the connection between tradition and modernity, national identity and international integration.
Faced with the constant changes in the digital transformation process in all fields in Vietnam in particular and the world in general, the book takes the lead on a "hot" issue in the digital age, thereby providing solutions to build and develop culture in the digital space in Vietnam, contributing to the work of educating ideology, ethics, and lifestyle, aiming to build and implement national value systems, cultural value systems, family value systems and Vietnamese human standards in the new era.
