The book aims to express gratitude to generations of artists who have worked in the arts during the resistance war, while honoring the value of revolutionary culture and art in the struggle for national independence.
The work is built from many sources of documents, witnesses, and vivid memories of the Liberation Artist Group - an artistic force under the Central Propaganda Department of the Southern Department, which operated tirelessly throughout the resistance war against the US to save the country.
The book "R Liberation of the Arts Group - A Historical mark" is a project compiled and introduced by the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
The book's content includes three parts: The role of a player in a flag, Portrait of a Talent Coming Against the Flood, Duyen Van Nhat Nghiep and the role of a player. Each part contributes to rebuilding a vivid and realistic picture of the artistic journey on the front line.
Not only a place to gather cultural talents, the Liberation Art Troupe is also a symbol of the spirit of dedication and aspiration of artists.
The "War" art programs in the battlefield, the plays, the dance, the drama were staged in the tunnel, in the middle of the forest, the stream ... has added great spiritual strength for the Southern people in the fierce years.
In addition to the book launch, the program also organizes a thematic exhibition with more than 110 valuable documents, images, and artifacts recreating the artistic activities of the Group of Artisans. The space of the simulation exhibition is a place to practice and perform in the forest, where artists used to sing loudly on bamboo stages, under oil lamps, under powerful bombs and bullets.
The special art program with the participation of major art units such as the Bong Sen Ethnic Music and Dance Theater, Cai Luong Tran Huu Trang Theater, Ho Chi Minh City Drama Theater... recreated the group's outstanding works such as "forest Music" (Hoang Viet), "Xuanong Chien Khu" (Xuan Hong), "Nguoi gia xe vui" (Thanh Truc), "Khat ca phai bat quen" (Pham Minh Tuan) ...
The Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City hopes that from the historical values recorded in the book, the spirit of revolutionary art will continue to spread and foster a civilized, modern, and affectionate Ho Chi Minh City - where culture is always the foundation for sustainable development.
