One of the new points of this year's Workers' Month is that the VGCL and local Trade Union levels simultaneously organize the "Day for Workers' Health" in 2026 with many meaningful activities to respond to "All People's Health Day" and "All People's Voluntary Blood Donation Day".
This is a highlight with a summary and reiteration nature. Because in reality in localities, the care for the health of union members and workers has been proactively and regularly, diversely implemented by trade union levels in the past, as an indispensable part of the care pillar, depending on its own characteristics.
However, making health care for union members and workers a "Festival", in addition to promoting better health care for union members and workers, will also make an important contribution to helping workers change their awareness of health care.
For a long time, the popular psychology of union members and workers has been to feel that they are still healthy and do not need to be examined, only when there are signs of illness do they go for examination. Therefore, programs such as "Day for Workers' Health" will be very meaningful in changing perceptions. When workers have access to medical services, are directly consulted, and have specific concerns answered, they will have the opportunity to look back at how they are concerned about their health.
Of course, the change in awareness cannot happen after just one event. What is necessary is that the "Day for Workers' Health" and similar health care activities must be maintained regularly, so that from "knowing" to "familiar", from "familiar" to "proactive".
To do this, the role of Trade Union organizations at all levels is very important. Not only organizing activities, the Trade Union also becomes a bridge to help workers access health care services conveniently and appropriately. When health check-ups and disease prevention counseling become as easy as a daily activity, psychological barriers will gradually be removed.
In parallel with the Trade Union organization, businesses cannot stand aside either. Because a reasonable working environment, guaranteed nutrition, and appropriate rest time... are the factors directly affecting workers' health. If you only care about outside without improving working conditions, the efficiency will not be sustainable.
In the current context, when work pressure is increasing, it is extremely necessary for the Trade Union, business owners and workers to join hands and proactively take care of their own health.
Changing awareness and proactiveness is not only for disease prevention, but also to maintain long-term working capacity. A healthy worker is not only beneficial to themselves, but also contributes to the stability of businesses and society.
