After nearly a year, it can be said that the goal set by the Prime Minister for Vietnam's digital transformation has been achieved when the milestone of being in the top 3 in the ASEAN region in terms of digital economy is very feasible. At the same time, according to the assessment of international organizations, Vietnam's digital economic growth rate is high, about 20%/year, equivalent to 3 times the GDP growth rate.
Next, Vietnam's e-commerce has grown very rapidly in recent times, ranking first in the ASEAN region thanks to the popularity of the internet and smartphones.
In particular, the scale of Vietnam's e-commerce market currently ranks third in the region, after Indonesia and Thailand. According to a report by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in 2023, the scale of the retail e-commerce market will increase by about 4 billion USD (up 25%) compared to 2022, reaching 20.5 billion USD...
Examples of the very practical and specific benefits that digital transformation has brought to the economy and people in the past have been mentioned many times, so I will not mention it again. I will only mention another goal that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has always mentioned in forums on digital transformation in the past: "The spirit is to leave no one behind in digital transformation".
This is a correct and very humane goal set by the head of the Government. However, to fully realize this goal is not easy for many reasons. Among them, there is still a huge gap between social classes in terms of digital skills as well as access to the digital economy.
In order for no one to be left behind in digital transformation, first of all, each individual, collective, agency, and unit from the central to local levels must unanimously identify digital transformation as a common “game” and not a private matter. Digital transformation is not something that everyone does on their own, but requires the participation, coordination, support, and creation of a mechanism for implementation… in a rhythmic and effective manner by all relevant ministries and branches.
Digital transformation is one of the keys for our country to enter the era of growth, it is inevitable, it is the command of the era, it cannot be otherwise. However, if we fully implement the goal of leaving no one behind, the growth will be much more valuable and meaningful!
