The newly announced conclusion of the Department of Education and Training of Phuoc Long district, Bac Lieu province, said that the comments from parents and teachers at Phuoc Long town Kindergarten about students' food rations being cut, food being underweight... are completely true.
Previously, in April 2024, the Department of Education and Training of Phuoc Long district received information from officials and teachers of Phuoc Long town Kindergarten: The school's caterer repeatedly stole food from children's meals; under-weighed food for children; the school was not transparent about monitoring the kitchen management camera - only the Vice Principal was allowed to monitor; the Principal arbitrarily let the caterer take leftover rice home...
In April, when reading the first news report in the newspaper, I expected the reflection of the staff and teachers to be inaccurate.
Because if it's true, then the story of even preschool children's meals being stolen - and the ones stealing them are the school's caterers - is terrible and sad.
But today, the food theft story has been confirmed to be true!
First of all, we must welcome the spirit of getting involved and officially concluding the case of the Department of Education and Training of Phuoc Long district, although the time from receiving the report until the conclusion was quite long - nearly 7 months.
Currently, the Department of Education and Training of Phuoc Long district is consulting the District People's Committee on how to handle the matter.
Hopefully, the caterers who stole food from students, the officials responsible for management but were lax, even condoning violations at Phuoc Long Town Kindergarten... will receive appropriate disciplinary action.
As before, a similar incident of "stealing" food rations occurred at Anh Duong Kindergarten (Chau Duc district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) but the "stealer" was a teacher.
After the authorities got involved, Ms. Phan Thi Han Hue, Principal of Anh Duong Kindergarten, proactively submitted a resignation letter citing poor health and shortcomings in management and operations.
But the authorities required Ms. Hue to remedy the consequences as concluded by the inspector before she could quit her job.
What you do, you eat is what you do, as the proverb says: “A tailor eats rags, a painter eats glue”. But “eating” here means eating the leftovers, the leftovers, the discarded things, reusing things that should have been thrown away, which implies fighting waste. This is the “eating” that should be encouraged.
As for "eating" like a kind of food that literally steals the food rations of preschool children, it is a matter of conscience, morality and responsibility, causing public outrage and deserving of strong condemnation!
