Students at Hanoi University of Science and Technology reported eating leftover rice, even rice with worms and rat droppings, while studying at the school. These students had to pay 1,630,000 VND for accommodation and meals during 2 weeks of national defense education.
Leftover rice is because the meal service support squad collects leftover rice from each table in the platoon that has eaten about an hour before, mixes it, and pours it into trays. Then, the kitchen staff pours this leftover rice into the common rice bin and continues to distribute it to the units that come to eat later.
The reason for the leftover soup is because the unfinished bowls of soup are collected, poured back into the pot, and then divided into new servings.
It is a pity for students to have to endure such "ignorant" eating. For those from poor families who do not have money to eat outside, the school meals are not of good quality to ensure health and hygiene.
I would like to ask the leaders of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, is it acceptable for the cafeteria to serve food to students like this? Students studying the national defense education program are required to pay for meals, and is this a source of profit to be exploited?
It is necessary to clarify whether there is any embezzlement of student meals and how the profits are divided between the catering contractor and those involved. There are clear signs of vested interests in the provision of meals for students.
For how many years, how many new students have been studying national defense education, paying money but eating poor quality and unhygienic food like this? Or is it that this year someone dared to report it, and the incident was just exposed?
Hanoi University of Science and Technology said it will publicize and strictly handle related groups and individuals to ensure the rights of students.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology also spoke up: "This is an unfortunate incident. Hanoi University of Science and Technology would like to apologize and hope to receive sympathy and sharing from parents and students."
The school leaders apologized but it did not really mean anything. What is necessary is to clarify the signs of interest groups related to providing meals for students.
We need to eliminate all negative and shady things in the educational environment. If we "snatch" student meals, what is education anymore?
