This leads to a fairly common situation of children and children of workers, having to play every day on narrow roads, full of vehicles, or even in potentially dangerous ponds and lakes. true playgrounds for children with basketball, badminton, badminton... seem to be a luxury.
And this is not the case of the "rowly populated" localities such as the boarding houses around Thach That Industrial Park or Thang Long Industrial Park (Dong Anh, Hanoi), but the common situation of most localities with industrial parks across the country.
The shortage of this playground on the one hand shows the inadequacy of infrastructure in localities, on the other hand shows loopholes in the general policy on social security for workers.
The project "Supporting workers in industrial parks and export processing zones in child care and education" implemented by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has clearly identified the need to invest in cultural institutions and children's playgrounds in industrial parks.
But to put that into practice, it requires the substantial participation of many ministries, local governments and employers.
Because the problem here is not only that one locality will build a few more slides, or another locality will build an additional soccer field... depending on the situation and actual conditions.
It is important to consider creating a living space for workers' children as a mandatory and synchronous criterion in workers' housing planning and in preferential investment policies in industrial parks in all localities. If when building a house for workers, there must be a health station and a nursery, then the playground also needs to be placed on par with the urgency.
We often say "children today are the world of tomorrow", but without specific policies, from land fund to public investment budget, from corporate responsibility to the supervision of the Trade Union organization, the children of workers will continue to grow up in deprivation and disadvantage.
Taking care of workers, the force plays a key role in industrialization - modernization, in a sustainable way that cannot stop at wages, meals or accommodation. It is also about protecting and nurturing their future generation to grow up safely, healthily, and happily with practical, quality play spaces.
This is also an investment in the future of the country.
