General Secretary To Lam in his speech at the 80th Anniversary of the Education Sector's tradition and opening of the 2025-2026 school year in September 2025, emphasized the requirement: "Innovating general education in a comprehensive direction, not only imparting knowledge but also nurturing personality - practicing physical exercise - nurturing the soul, arousing the spirit of citizenship, sense of discipline and social responsibility; forming a class of people who are both talented, humane and resilient".
Education not only trains skilled people, but also must build Vietnamese people to develop comprehensively, know how to love, share and live responsibly with the community.
Looking straight at reality, heartbreaking incidents that have occurred in schools in recent times - from school violence, insulting friends to indifference and coldness among children - are a warning for the whole society. Behind every deviation is a loophole in moral education, life skills, and the lack of cohesion between school - family - society. When knowledge develops rapidly but the foundation of personality is eroded, society will pay a heavy price.
Therefore, our Party is steadfast in its goal of building a safe, humane, disciplined and happy educational environment. That environment must be built from three pillars: ethics - management - legality. First, moral education and life skills must be placed at the center, suitable for the psychology of the age group, helping students learn to respect, sympathize and control emotions. Second, school management must be scientific, with coordination between homeroom teachers, residents, parents and psychologists. Third, the law needs to accompany education, protect students and prevent school violence early.
The idea of "building Vietnamese people for comprehensive development" has been affirmed by the Party through many congresses. But at the upcoming 14th Congress, that spirit will be raised to a new level, associated with the goal of building a learning society, lifelong learning. This is not only a "moderation of education" in technical sense, but a modernization of personality, so that every Vietnamese person has the ability to adapt, be creative and humane.
The concept of "happy schools" has special guiding value. Schools are not only places to teach, but must be places to sow the seeds of kindness, where teachers are examples of morality, dedication and love. When students study in a humane environment, they will grow up with faith and self-respect, know how to protect themselves and respect others.
A humane society must start with a humanistic school. A happy nation must be nurtured in happy classes. To build a strong country, we must start from nurturing kind, honest, and resilient souls in each classroom today.
