According to calculations from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, only more than 3,000 key energy users nationwide need to save at least 2% of their electricity consumption/year, which will save more than VND 3,200 billion. If all 30 million electricity customers nationwide practice electricity saving together, the benefits will be many times greater.
For households, the most obvious benefit is reducing monthly electricity bills. Just turn off the device when not in use, adjust the air conditioner appropriately, replace LED bulbs, take advantage of natural light... each family can save 5-10% of the cost. The small number but multiplied by tens of millions of households, became a huge savings.
In the field of production and business, the benefits of saving electricity are even more obvious. With more than 3,000 key energy users, just reducing energy consumption by 2% per year, businesses can save about VND3,200 billion
At the national level, saving electricity is a strategic solution to reduce supply pressure. Power saving also contributes to strengthening energy security and improving the competitiveness of the economy. At the same time, the application of energy-saving technology promotes innovation, creating momentum for the digital economy and green economy. In 2024, the whole country saved 6,506 million kWh. If calculated as money, it is only equivalent to 14 billion VND - a very modest figure.
To achieve higher efficiency, the National Assembly passed the Law amending and supplementing the Law on Energy Efficiency and Savings (effective from January 1, 2026), creating a legal corridor to promote action. Businesses need to consider electricity saving as part of a sustainable development strategy, invest in new technology, and apply an ISO standard energy management system. For the people, the most important thing is to change awareness. A small action such as turning off the lights, pulling out theplug, using an electrical saving device... will have a big impact when multiplied in the community.
Power saving is an economic solution, civilized action and social responsibility. Family saves electricity to reduce spending, businesses save electricity to increase productivity and reputation, and the country saves electricity to ensure energy security and sustainable development.
General Secretary To Lam, in the article "Fighting waste", set the requirement: "Building a culture of preventing and combating waste; making practicing thrift and combating waste a " self-awareness", "voluntary", "eating, drinking, and daily wear".
Each today's savings electricity number, considered a small matter, is a brick that contributes to building a green, prosperous and self-reliant Vietnam in the future.
