It is no coincidence that on April 27, when accompanying the Central Working Delegation to visit and encourage workers and laborers in Ho Chi Minh City, General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized the requirement "each worker should try to learn a new skill, do better in their work every day, boldly propose initiatives, technical improvements, save materials, ensure safety, and improve product quality".
Also in the congratulatory letter on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2026), Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - emphasized the message of action.
That each union member and worker should "actively study, train to improve political bravery, professional qualifications, professional skills, industrial style, labor discipline; innovate and create, promote initiatives, technical improvements, improve labor productivity, contributing to the successful implementation of the goal of double-digit growth, building a strong, prosperous, prosperous, civilized, and happy Vietnam".
It can be said that studying, training, complying with discipline, innovation, promoting initiatives... are fundamental requirements for workers to adapt to the new development stage.
In the context of high growth targets being set, the role of workers is also repositioned in a different position. They are not only a productive force, but are the creators of value, directly deciding the productivity and competitiveness of the economy. That means each worker must upgrade themselves, if they do not want to be left behind.
In that context, the message of the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also sets a corresponding requirement for the Trade Union organization.
Not only stopping at caring for and supporting, the Trade Union must truly become a reliable and effective representative of workers in an increasingly complex labor environment. This role is also reflected in specific capacity in dialogue, negotiation, and protection of workers' rights in a substantive way.
And the honoring of 101 typical grassroots Trade Union Presidents in collective dialogue and negotiation, taking place on the same occasion, is an illustrative highlight to create motivation for others to look at, learn and continue to act.
The commended officials are those who directly turn the representative role into specific results in each enterprise, through labor agreements that are more beneficial to workers.
The typical trade union officials honored this time are both dedicated and visionary, shown through their dialogue skills, negotiation bravery and the ability to bring about substantial results.
Especially, in the context of increasingly demanding professionalism and efficiency in labor relations, the role of the Trade Union is also being re-placed to a higher level.
Not only caring for and protecting, Trade Union officials also participate in creating a harmonious, stable and progressive working environment, contributing to helping businesses develop sustainably.
Finally, all values of the workers' movement are only truly meaningful when they are transformed into specific results in each enterprise, each job position. Only when actions are substantive, the spirit of May 1st truly becomes a driving force for development.
