Ho Chi Minh City exploits UAVs, opening the way for new logistics space

Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology in coordination with Vietnam Post and UAV Joint Stock Company announced the deployment of a postal transport route using UAV connecting Can Gio commune and Vung Tau ward.

This event marks the first time in ASEAN that a sea-crossing air route for delivery has been formed, laying the foundation for a new logistics space - low-altitude space.

Ho Chi Minh City is strongly promoting digital transformation and digital economic development, the application of UAVs in postal transport shows that management thinking has shifted from managing what is available to creating a new development space.

The sea-crossing route is of special significance, instead of relying on roads and waterways, there are now more flexible and proactive transportation methods.

A noteworthy point is that the project is implemented according to a pilot model with control, ensuring requirements on flight safety, security, journey monitoring and compliance with airspace management regulations.

Each UAV is equipped with an intelligent autonomous system and surveillance cameras, creating practical data for management agencies to improve policies on smart logistics and low-level economic development.

This shows that technology accompanies legal regulations, ensuring sustainable development.

From an economic perspective, the UAV transport route opens up great room to reduce pressure on road traffic infrastructure.

Shortening delivery time, especially for parcels, important documents, pharmaceuticals or essential goods, will improve the competitiveness of logistics services, directly contributing to the city's digital economy index.

More importantly, the service also demonstrates the research, production and operation capacity of domestic enterprises' unmanned aerial vehicles.

As Vietnamese people gradually master UAV technology, the opportunity does not stop at postal delivery.

UAVs can be expanded to emergency medical transportation, search and rescue support, disaster response, environmental monitoring, smart urban management or service provision in remote and isolated areas, areas that require speed, accuracy and flexible access.

In the digital age, the concept of "geographic distance" is being redefined. A sea-crossing route not only shortens the distance by several tens of kilometers, but also shortens the distance between ideas and applications, between research and market.

When technology is placed within a tight management framework, serving the interests of the community and sustainable development, social trust will be the biggest driving force for innovation.

The postal transport route using Can Gio - Vung Tau UAV is therefore not simply a technology event.

That is also an affirmation that digitalization is not a slogan, but is gradually entering life with smart, safe and useful products.
