AI application elevates Vietnamese healthcare, reaching international standards

Lê Thanh Phong |

Industries, businesses, agencies, and organizations have been exploiting AI (artificial intelligence) to apply in their activities, and healthcare is the industry that has accessed and made good use of this tool.

Previously, the domestic medical sector was quite far behind that of countries with developed medicine. One of the reasons for this gap was that Vietnam lacked many modern medical examination and treatment machines and equipment.

In recent years, medical facilities have changed significantly, first of all, the level of doctors and medical experts has been raised. Because Vietnam has many doctors studying abroad or returning from advanced countries, at the same time the training quality of domestic schools and institutes is increasingly high. There are many experts and good doctors, along with investment in modern facilities and machinery, so medical care and treatment are better. Not to mention, Vietnam has outstanding medical achievements, many international-class research projects.

The advent of artificial intelligence is another opportunity for the Vietnamese healthcare industry to develop, not only in scientific research, but also in treatment applications. Many hospitals have exploited AI to support, from image diagnosis, pathology, genetic data analysis... To effectively treat patients and minimize errors, diagnoses must be accurate. AI effectively supports this, in fact, the application of AI in medical facilities has proven its effectiveness.

Exploiting AI also helps save time in treatment, which is very important, because early detection of diseases, quick and timely treatment is more effective, the chance of recovery is higher, including the chance of survival of the patient. Not to mention, AI applications help save costs for medical facilities as well as patients by optimizing operating processes.

In the future, AI will not only be applied in treatment, but also as a tool to support people in controlling diseases. Each person will be reported on their health status, early detection of diseases (if any), warnings about diet, rest, exercise, and recommendations for medical examination and testing to determine the risks of diseases in the body.

Doing so will be a huge and important step forward for the medical industry, taking care of people's health scientifically. Exploiting fast and popular AI tools, creating AI applications with high scientific value, will shorten the gap with the world in the medical field.
