Hanoi - After 26 hours of continuous emergency care, doctors recovered the life of a patient who had a traffic accident and stopped circulating twice.

The race against death

At 1:55 p.m., the ambulance crashed into the lobby of the Emergency Department, Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases. When the car door was opened, the doctors immediately rushed out and took the patient to the emergency room in a jam. Doctor Phan Van Manh, Emergency Department, Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases, resolutely ordered: "Immediately give up your heart! Preparation for the endotracheal tube!

Without a second hesitation, the medical team immediately took action. A nurse jumped onto the bed, pressuring her heart continuously with both hands. Another nurse injected Adrenaline into a vein, two doctors urgently placed an endotracheal tube and injected a balloon to support breathing. Emergency blood transfusion medicine was given. Everything took place in an extremely tense atmosphere.

Male patient V.V.T (64 years old, Hanoi) suffered a serious traffic accident, with injuries all over his body. The right thigh was crushed, the third of the thigh bone was broken, and blood was flowing continuously. pale skin, cold front. No blood pressure measurement, no pulse.

After being admitted to the emergency room, the patient had a cardiac arrest, and the heart rate returned. Immediately, the patient was taken to the Imaging Diagnosis Department for a CT scan and transferred directly to the operating room.

At 14:45, the special surgery team quickly arrived at the location. Under the leadership of Dr. Hoang Manh Ha, leading experts in the fields of micro surgery, neurology, and anesthesia coordinate in treating damage.

The patient's right thigh was severely crushed, the artery of the right leg was severed, and blood was flowing heavily. 8.2 liters of blood were continuously infused during the surgery. Doctors urgently connected the arteries, treated the lesion software, and stopped the bleeding. The head wound was also carefully checked and bandaged.

After a long surgery, the patient was transferred to the Intensive Care Center.

Second Quarrying Suit: Decision on life and death

However, immediately after that, the patient's blood pressure suddenly dropped to 0, the pulse could not be measured, the skin was pale white, and the whole body was cold. Blood continued to leak from the surgical wound, and the collarbone dilated wide. Once again, the patient's circulation was stopped.

The medical team immediately took action. Endocrinological drugs, increased Adrenaline dosage, emergency cardiac supplements. After that, the patient's heart beat again.

However, the patient's condition continued to bleed uncontrollably due to blood clotting disorder. With no other choice, doctors have to make a heartbreaking decision, but the only way to save the patient's life is to remove the 1/3 incision on the right thigh to stop bleeding.

20:20 The second surgery took place. When the final stations were completed, the patient was given emergency blood transfusion and returned to the Intensive Care Unit.

The 26-hour battle: Committing to life

After two stressful surgeries, the patient continued to receive emergency blood filtration. At 1:30 a.m. the next morning, the patient was given red blood cells, huyet tuong and platelets. The medical team closely monitors each breathing rhythm and each vital signs.

On the sixth day after surgery, a miracle occurred: the patient woke up, blood pressure was stable, vital signs improved.

More than 22 liters of blood products were infused, dozens of doctors and nurses tried tirelessly for 26 hours to save the patient's life. This is not only a victory of modern medicine but also a testament to the spirit of solidarity, responsibility and excellent skills of the medical team of the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
