On the afternoon of November 11, Mr. Lo Van Thiep - Principal of Con Cuong Boarding Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities (Con Cuong Commune, Nghe An) - said that the school had just given nearly 400 students a day off to prevent the A flu epidemic.
According to the school's leaders, more than a week ago, some students showed symptoms of headaches, high fever... but they thought it was a common cold so they only took medicine themselves. After a few days, the number of students with similar symptoms increased rapidly.
Through preliminary information, there are currently more than 160 students of Con Cuong Boarding Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities infected with influenza A. The rapid outbreak, the school has coordinated with Con Cuong Medical Center to disinfect the entire campus, boarding area, dining room and group activity area. All students are off from school, go home for treatment and monitor their health.
"The A flu spread quickly, so we have dropped 388 students. The homeroom teacher is grasping the situation. Students who stay at home will be given compensatory teaching after their health is stable" - Mr. Thiep said.
According to Mr. Thiep, the school's students have had two days off (November 10 and 11). Currently, the school has not yet set a time for students to return to school.
"If their health is stable, the school will notify them to return to school this Friday" - Mr. Thiep added.
