According to the Khanh Hoa Provincial Tropical Diseases Hospital, Khanh Hoa recorded nearly 340 cases of new influenza A in the past week.
The hospital recommends that people proactively monitor their health and strictly implement seasonal flu prevention measures to protect themselves, their families and the community.
According to doctors, seasonal flu is an acute respiratory viral infection, caused by the influenza virus, most commonly the influenza A and influenza B. The disease is transmitted quickly through the respiratory tract when the patient coughs, sneezes, talks or hand-to-hand, or objects containing the virus.
People with seasonal flu often have symptoms of sudden high fever (≥ 38 degrees Celsius); headache, body pain, fatigue, loss of appetite; cough, sore throat, runny nose or stuffy nose; chills, sweating, and nausea.
Most cases will recover after 57 days. However, the flu can cause serious complications such as pneumonia, respiratory failure, heart attack, Bacterial resistance... in young children, the elderly, pregnant women, people with chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, bronchial asthma, ...
The family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, residing in Tay Nha Trang ward, Khanh Hoa province, has had 3 people with influenza A in recent days.

"When my 4-year-old child returned from kindergarten, he had a fever. After monitoring the child with a fever of 39-40 degrees Celsius, I immediately took him to the clinic and was diagnosed with influenza A. Because there were many people in the hospital, he was allowed to go home to monitor and then spread to the 7-year-old child and his grandmother" - Ms. Thanh said.
In October, Khanh Hoa Provincial Tropical Diseases Hospital received from 200 to 300 patients for examination. Most of the patients were diagnosed with dengue fever, hand, foot and mouth disease, and influenza A.
The hospital proactively arranges additional beds, sleepers, increases the number of examination tables and classifies diseases from the beginning to reduce congestion.
According to statistics from the Khanh Hoa Provincial Center for Disease Control, in the first 10 months of 2025, the whole province recorded nearly 7,000 cases of dengue fever, an increase of 2.6 times over the same period last year. More than 2,300 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease, an increase of 22%.
Notably, there are more than 7,300 cases of influenza strains, influenza A alone is showing a strong upward trend, the risk of outbreaks in the community is increasing.
