Information from Ha Tinh General Hospital said that the health condition of the 4 patients poisoned by eating mushrooms has stabilized, is still being monitored, and is expected to be discharged in the next few days.
Mr. Dinh Quoc Hai (resident of Hamlet 10, Ha Linh Commune) - said that on the evening of September 12, he and his wife invited 3 neighbors to their house for dinner and drinks. The meal included stir-fried mushrooms, which were the type of mushrooms he and his wife picked while working in the forest.
About 30 minutes after eating, all 5 people vomited, then had stomachaches and diarrhea. Knowing that they were poisoned, the couple and 2 other guests were taken to Ha Tinh General Hospital for emergency treatment; 1 person with mild symptoms was treated at home.
At the hospital, the patients were given emergency treatment according to food poisoning protocol.
Doctor Tran Tien - Deputy Head of the Emergency Department of Poison Control, Ha Tinh General Hospital - said that poisoning due to eating poisonous mushrooms often has symptoms such as: Severe abdominal pain in bouts, frequent bowel movements; nausea, vomiting of food, possibly mixed with blood; fatigue, cold limbs, thirst, sometimes rash; dizziness, vertigo...
Therefore, people should only eat cultivated mushrooms, with a known species and origin, and guaranteed to be edible without poisoning. Absolutely do not eat strange or wild mushrooms.
