On September 11, in Phong Dien ward, Hue city, 47 cases were recorded admitted to the emergency room suspected of food poisoning at Scavi Hue Textile Company. Patients were taken for intensive treatment at Hue Central Hospital, facility 2.
The Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health) has issued a document requesting the Hue City Department of Health to urgently direct relevant units to implement investigation and handling measures to minimize the impact on people's health.
According to the Food Safety Department, first of all, medical facilities receiving patients must focus resources, actively treat, ensure that patients are cared for promptly, and not let health and life be affected.
At the same time, the Hue Department of Health is required to organize an investigation and trace the origin of food to clearly identify the source of raw materials and food suspected of causing poisoning. Functional agencies need to take food samples and specimens for testing, thereby determining the cause of the incident.
During the investigation, if organizations and individuals are found to violate food safety regulations, functional agencies must strictly handle them according to regulations. The results of investigation and handling are also required to be made public in order to promptly warn and protect public health.
The Food Safety Department also proposed to strengthen propaganda and guidance for food service business establishments to strictly implement food safety regulations. In which, special attention should be paid to controlling the origin of raw materials; ensuring hygiene throughout the process of preliminary processing, processing, transportation and food preservation.
Facilities must also fully implement the three-step food inspection process and store food samples according to regulations. People need to be propagated and guided on choosing safe food as well as choosing food processing and supply facilities, especially for events with large numbers of attendees.
The Food Safety Department requests the Hue City Department of Health to strictly implement the contents of Directive No. 38/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister on strengthening food poisoning prevention and Official Dispatch No. 2236/BYT-ATTP of the Ministry of Health on strengthening inspection and ensuring food safety at collective kitchens and school kitchens.
Hue City Department of Health is requested to report the results of the investigation and incident handling to the Food Safety Department according to regulations.
Currently, the specific cause of the incident has not been determined. The taking of food samples, specimens and investigation of food supply sources are expected to clarify the cause of suspected poisoning cases at Scavi Hue Textile Company.
