Processed foods
French fries and cookies often contain a lot of sodium and added sugar, which can make the body retain water and feel bloated.
If you crave snacking, try a healthier alternative like carrots or a few whole grain cookies with peanut butter.
Spicy foods
Highly spicy foods can cause sweating, redness of the face and other symptoms of hot flashes. If you want to add a spicy taste to your dish, you can replace it with flavoring spices that are not too spicy like fennel, curry, turmeric and basil.
Fast food
Fast food can be convenient when you don't have much time, but dishes often contain a large amount of fat. Fatty foods may increase the risk of heart disease, a condition that women are more likely to suffer from after menopause. These foods also tend to promote weight gain, which can also aggravate menopausal symptoms.
Alcohol
According to the North American Menopausal Association, women who drink two to five glasses of alcohol a day are 1.5 times more likely to develop breast cancer than those who do not drink alcohol, and drinking a lot of alcohol can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.
If alcohol worsens menopausal symptoms, you should try to stay away from it. If you still want to enjoy it occasionally, try a glass of white wine with fruit, which has a lower alcohol content than most regular drinks.
Fatty meat
In addition to being high in saturated fat, foods like breast meat and bacon can reduce the body's serotonin levels. When serotonin is reduced, we feel angry, irritable, and uncomfortable. When you buy meat, ignore fatty meats, choose alternatives such as chicken and lean beef.
