In which, the Food Safety Department requested the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety to direct hospitals with patients undergoing treatment to focus resources, actively treat severe patients, and not affect health and life.
Organize investigations to trace the origin of food, to clearly identify the source of raw materials and food suspected of causing poisoning; test to find the cause of the poisoning incident. In addition, organize investigations to determine the causes leading to the continuous occurrence of food poisoning cases after eating bread in Ho Chi Minh City in recent times; strictly handle violations of food safety regulations if any.
In addition, strengthen propaganda and guidance on food safety knowledge in production, business and consumption, focusing communication on the group of establishments producing, processing, and trading food products related to street food. Regarding the suspected food poisoning case due to bread that occurred in Vung Tau ward (Ho Chi Minh City), the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health recorded 59 cases coming to Vung Tau General Hospital for food poisoning treatment, after eating bread at the facility on Do Chieu street.
The majority of cases showed digestive symptoms such as vomiting, abdominal pain, fever... Among them, 52 cases were hospitalized for treatment, 7 cases had mild symptoms, so they were prescribed outpatient treatment and continued to be monitored at home.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has also directed hospitals to review the reception and treatment of patients after using food from the above bread establishment; handle according to the food poisoning treatment protocol issued by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health. At the same time, implement a quick reporting regimen to the Food Safety Department and the Professional Medical Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health to grasp and coordinate promptly.
