On the afternoon of May 14, Children's Hospital 1 said that the health of patient N.G. K (born in 2024) in the abuse case in Hoa Hiep commune has recovered and stabilized. It is expected that tomorrow morning (May 15), baby K will be transferred to the Ho Chi Minh City Social Work Center.
As Lao Dong Newspaper reported, on May 11, an inter-sectoral working delegation including the People's Procuracy of Region 14, Hoa Hiep Commune People's Committee, Trung My Tay Ward People's Committee, Vietnam Association for the Protection of Children's Rights in Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh City Center for Social Work - Vocational Education for Teenagers visited, encouraged and presented birth certificates to baby K.
Representatives of the People's Committee of Trung My Tay commune directly presented the birth certificate to the patient. This is an important starting step for the patient to be better protected, have the opportunity to fully access basic rights and aim for a safer and better future.
On May 10, the Investigation Police Agency of Ho Chi Minh City Police said that it had prosecuted and temporarily detained Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc (33 years old, residing in Trung My Tay ward, Ho Chi Minh City) and Danh Chon (30 years old, from An Giang province) to investigate the crime of "Mistreatment or abuse of grandparents, parents, spouses, children, grandchildren or people who raised them" as prescribed in Clause 2, Article 185 of the Penal Code.
Previously, the case of child N.G. K (born in 2024) being abused by her biological mother and "fake father" in a rented room in group 2, Phu Lam hamlet, Hoa Hiep commune, Ho Chi Minh City, caused special public outrage. Specifically, around February 2026, Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc and Danh Chon rented a room to live as husband and wife in Hoa Hiep commune to live and work as hired laborers. During their time here, the two repeatedly used wooden and bamboo sticks to beat child N.G. K.
Especially, at about 12 pm on May 2, 2026, after thinking that the baby was crying a lot, Danh Chon used his hand to hit the baby's back hard, causing the victim to fall to the floor, then continued to use the bamboo stick to hit continuously on his hands, feet, abdomen and back. Not stopping there, Truc and Chon also took turns hitting the baby until the bamboo stick broke.
When the baby was found seriously injured, head torn and bleeding, back bleeding, hands and feet bruised, Truc only applied superficial medicine... After discovering many injuries on the baby's body, people reported to the police.
