On June 19, information from Lang Son General Hospital said that the boy named T.A, born at the hospital's Obstetrics Department at just 24 weeks of pregnancy and weighing 700 grams, had been successfully treated and discharged from the hospital in a stable state of health.
According to specialist II Le Quang Phuong, Deputy Head of the Department of Pediatrics, this is a rare case of extremely premature birth and low birth weight, which has been successfully treated at the hospital since the beginning of 2025.
At birth, baby T.A. suffered from many critical problems such as hypothermia, respiratory failure, digestive disorders, incomplete cardiovascular, urinary and circulatory functions.
Immediately after giving birth, the baby was placed in a ventilator, fully nourished through a vein and actively cared for at the neonatal resuscitation unit.
The hospital has applied many modern methods such as Surfactant pumping to support the lungs, using antibiotics, blood transfusion, treating blood clotting disorder and maintaining a special diet to keep the baby alive.
After 94 days of treatment, baby T.A breathed on her own, completely suckled her mother, weighed 2.3 kg and was eligible for discharge.
The hospital representative said that saving baby T.A's life was not only a professional success but also the result of close coordination between specialties and the tireless efforts of the team of doctors and nurses in caring for premature babies.
