The first successful case was patient T., residing in Ho Chi Minh City, who was admitted to the hospital with a stone in the throat of a gallbladder, causing compression of the common liver tube and the giant gallbladder, leading to gallstones. This is a dangerous complication, if not treated promptly, it can cause gallbladder infection, pancreatitis or liver failure.
According to Dr. CKII. Nguyen Quang Huy, Head of the General Surgery Department, People's Hospital 115, usually, in such cases, the treatment choice will be gallbladder cutting surgery (open surgery or endoscopic surgery). However, this patient has many underlying diseases and weak physical conditions, making surgery dangerous and posing many potential risks during and after surgery.
In that context, doctors from the General Surgery Department of People's Hospital 115 chose the solution of cross-licer bicep stones through the skin, this is a modern technique, less invasive and equally effective in treatment.
Doctor Quang Huy further explained: This is a minimalist intervention technique, in which the doctor uses specialized tools to go through the liver, approach the gallbladder through the skin to remove or remove stones with shock waves or other stones. This process is often guided by images (ultra-audiences, C-Arm, DSA photos...) to ensure safety and accuracy".
When the patient is given this technique, the patient will not need to undergo a full-body anesthesia such as surgery, quick recovery time, reduce the risk of complications for the patient with a weak physical condition, the important thing is to be able to retain the gallbladder, an organ that still plays a role in digestion and gallbladder regulation.
The intervention was performed in a short time, the patient recovered well and was discharged after only 1 day, which is rare in previous cases of gallstones, added Dr. Quang Huy.
For decades, gallbladder cutting has been considered a permanent solution for gallbladder stones. However, recent studies show that living without a gallbladder can cause some long-term effects, and not every patient can predict.
If forced to have the gallbladder removed, the patient's health will have to face a situation where gallbladder is no longer stored but flows continuously into the intestines, making it difficult to digest fat, easily causing diarrhea and bloating.
