The information was shared by representatives of Tam Anh General Hospital at the 3rd International Conference on Donation and Transplantation of Vietnamese Organs, held on January 9-10, 2026, co-organized by the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center, the Vietnam Organ Transplant Association and the Tam Anh General Hospital System.
It is expected that after completing the final legal steps, this unit will start implementing kidney transplants in 2026, under the coordination of the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center.
Tam Anh General Hospital system said that organ transplantation is one of the key professional development strategies in the coming time, starting with kidney transplantation and then expanding to more complex transplant techniques such as liver transplantation, heart-lung transplantation...

According to a report by the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center, Vietnam has about more than 10 million people with chronic kidney disease, of which more than 800,000 people suffer from end-stage kidney failure. More than 30,000 patients are being treated for dialysis with indications for kidney transplantation, and more than 4,600 people are waiting for organ transplantation, mainly kidney transplantation.
Kidney transplantation is the most optimal alternative treatment method today, helping to increase the chances of survival for patients with end-stage kidney failure (the survival rate after 5 years in people with kidney transplants originating from living donors is up to 90%, while this rate in people with hemodialysis is only 26%), more economically beneficial (25% cheaper than blood filtration costs). From 2022 - 2025, nearly 4,500 kidney transplants have been performed, helping the health insurance fund save about 1,000 billion VND.
However, there are only 31 facilities nationwide that meet the conditions for organ transplantation, mainly concentrated in central-level hospitals and some large hospitals in the public sector. This number has not met the increasing demand of end-stage organ failure patients.
In that context, Tam Anh General Hospital System has proactively invested fully and comprehensively in core conditional groups according to the regulations of the Ministry of Health for kidney transplantation facilities, such as completing the system of dossiers, projects, organizational procedures according to the Law and decrees, circulars, specialized decisions; professional councils and coordination committees have been established in accordance with regulations.

Prof. Dr. Ngo Quy Chau, Professional Director of Tam Anh General Hospital Hanoi, said that Tam Anh has built a comprehensive organ transplant ecosystem, starting from diagnosis, treatment of chronic kidney disease, control of complications, kidney replacement treatment with dialysis, dialysis with a modern equipment system, to high-tech urinary-surgery and ready to deploy kidney transplantation when indicated.
The hospital gathers a team of leading experts in both the North and South, with the synchronous participation of key fields including neurology, urology, surgery, anesthesia and resuscitation, intensive care, immunology - testing, infection control, nutrition and long-term post-transplant care. The multidisciplinary coordination helps patients prepare optimal physical and psychological conditions before transplantation, reduce the risk of complications and improve the long-term effectiveness of transplanted organs.
In parallel with human resources, the system of sterile operating rooms, intensive care, immunology - molecular biology tests and infection control... is invested synchronously, built according to high standards, meeting strict requirements.
Notably, Tam Anh General Hospital is one of the pioneers in applying the new generation Da Vinci Xi surgical robot in complex urinary and surgical surgeries, creating an important foundation for the implementation of kidney transplantation according to international standards.

Prof. Dr. Pham Gia Khanh, Chairman of the Vietnam Organ Transplant Association, assessed that the participation of non-public hospitals with investment potential such as Tam Anh General Hospital will contribute to expanding the national organ transplant network, reducing pressure on public hospitals and creating more opportunities for patients to access kidney transplants.
With a closed treatment model, from kidney disease treatment, dialysis to kidney transplantation, Tam Anh General Hospital System is expected not only to well meet the treatment needs of patients but also contribute to the effective use of medical resources, reducing the burden on the health insurance fund and the public health system.
It's a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit.
