On the afternoon of February 25, Politburo member and Standing member of the Central Party Secretariat Tran Cam Tu visited and congratulated the staff and medical staff of the National Children's Hospital on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Vietnam Doctors' Day (February 27, 55 - February 27, 2025).
On behalf of the entire team of doctors, civil servants, and workers of the hospital, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Minh Dien - Director of the National Children's Hospital - said that after 56 years of development, the staff of the National Children's Hospital has always been united and unanimous in building the hospital to continuously grow, affirming its pioneering role in children's health care. The hospital is equipped with modern facilities and a team of highly qualified doctors, the hospital constantly innovates and applies advanced treatment methods to improve the quality of health care for children. This continuous effort has built strong trust in parents and contributed to shaping the future of children's health in the country.
Every year, the hospital receives and safely treats 1.2 million outpatients and more than 120,000 inpatients.
The hospital successfully deployed thousands of surgeries and treatments such as heart surgery, organ transplantation, endoscopic surgery, blood filtration and ECMO, saving many children in critical condition. The hospital also applies clinical genetic medicine and is recognized as a leading unit in the treatment of child cancer in Vietnam.
The hospital deploys high-tech techniques, performing over 30,000 surgeries each year with more than 1,000 open heart cases, 500 closed heart cases, 500 interventions and nearly 2,000 endoscopic cases, along with more than 50 transplants of stem cells, liver, and kidneys. Methods such as continuous blood filtration at bed and ECMO have saved many children's lives in critical condition. The hospital is also a pioneer in applying clinical genetic medicine, contributing to improving the effectiveness of diagnosis and treatment, and is recognized as the leading treatment unit for children's cancer in Vietnam.
Congratulating the collective of doctors at the National Children's Hospital, Mr. Tran Cam Tu affirmed that people's health care is not only the task of the health sector but also the responsibility of each citizen, the entire political system and the whole society.
With the attention of the Party and State, and the efforts of the health sector, the health system is increasingly improved in scale, quality, facilities with a team of skilled doctors and nurses; the quality of medical examination and treatment is constantly improving, helping many people save their lives; many advanced techniques are applied in Vietnam on par with the region and the world.
In the coming time, National Children's Hospital will continue to promote the tradition of solidarity, creativity, and strong innovation to overcome difficulties and challenges, comprehensively develop and achieve many great achievements in medical examination and treatment and scientific research.
In the context of new development, the medical sector and the National Children's Hospital still face many difficulties. Mr. Tran Cam Tu believes that, with a tradition of solidarity, a sense of responsibility, creativity and innovation, the hospital will overcome all challenges for comprehensive development, achieving many outstanding achievements in medical examination and treatment and scientific research.
