Engineering degrees are no longer a "safe shield"
Currently, students in the technical group not only face a large amount of knowledge, requiring high logical thinking, but also have to adapt to changes in the labor market. Although considered a group of majors "thirsty" for human resources, promising to bring open job opportunities, many students expressed concern about whether an engineering degree is still a "golden ticket" as before?
Hoang Dinh Quy (20 years old) - a student majoring in Software Application at FPT Polytechnic College - plans to become a network system construction technician after graduating.
My passion for computer networks and new technology from high school has urged me to pursue a major in Software Application, exploring more deeply the network operating system. However, my biggest concern is job opportunities in the context of technology development like the current storm" - Quy confided.
Similarly, Hoang Minh Anh (20 years old) - a student majoring in Energy Management, Hanoi Electricity University - also has a passion for the engineering group. Although she is a girl and has been advised by everyone to choose another major that is lighter because studying engineering is very difficult, Anh still maintains her determination.
The third-year student confided: I can recognize my abilities and strengths very early. I think studying in a major I have chosen is much better than pursuing in trendy majors".
For Anh, she has never regretted pursuing a major in Energy Management. However, what makes the female student worried is the strong impact of artificial intelligence.
AI has the ability to process huge amounts of data, learn from complex models and make almost instant decisions. Meanwhile, humans have to spend a lot of time and effort researching and analyzing. This can lead to replacement or shortage of human resources. Personally, I think that I have to constantly update and improve my knowledge to make the most effective use of AI" - Anh expressed.

Determination and passion
The psychology of "choosing a major according to the trend" is making many students confused, even many students confused about their choices. However, according to experts, if looking at the trend of modern industry, the technical industry group still plays a key role.
Sharing about the above issue, MSc. Hoang Duc Long - Deputy Head of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics, Hanoi College of High Technology - suggested that candidates aim for engineering majors such as: electricity, electronics, electromechanics, automation, mechanics... which are the core majors of the industry. Any factory or production environment needs a technician to work with automated machinery. Opportunities to find jobs as well as create jobs for themselves have also been increased.
From the perspective of university training, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Duc Dai - Deputy Head of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics, University of Water Resources also stated that students in the technical group need to be fully equipped with determination and passion.
In the digital transformation period, digital technology requires engineers in the engineering industry to have very in-depth knowledge and the ability to think sharply to solve practical problems - Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Duc Dai shared.
Mr. Dai also specifically analyzed that technical learning has its own advantages. Therefore, forcing us to increase our thinking ability is not just an industry issue but an inter-sectoral issue. When there is a mindset of solving inter-sectoral problems, job opportunities will be opened up.
