Coffee
The chemical structure of caffeine is methylxanthine, which will not increase uric acid levels after metabolism in the body.
However, drinking too much coffee and consuming too much caffeine can stimulate the nerves, especially for people who are prone to insomnia, anxiety and high blood pressure after drinking coffee. Drinking too much coffee can cause gout attacks. Therefore, people with high uric acid levels should not drink much coffee or black coffee.
Tea
Tea is an alkaline drink. Drinking in moderation can help alkalimize urine. Therefore, people with high uric acid levels can drink a little white tea.
However, like coffee, if you drink black tea or tea overnight, you will consume too much caffeine, which will stimulate the nerves and is not good for gout control.
Fruit juice
Gout patients should not drink fruit juice because pre-closed fruit juice is rich in fructose. Fructose will produce purines when metabolized in the liver. The final product of purines is uric acid. Excessive accumulation and crystallization of uric acid will form tophicles.
People with high uric acid levels are advised to eat whole fruits.
Honey water
The sugar content in honey is about 75%, mainly glucose and fructose. Therefore, people with high uric acid levels should not drink thick honey water. Otherwise, fructose and energy intake may exceed the standard level, which is not beneficial for gout control.
If you really want to drink it, you can occasionally drink a small amount of white honey water while you are not in acute pain.
Milk
Milk is a low-purine food, so people with high uric acid can drink milk. However, you need to be careful not to drink too much. Drinking too much will lead to excess protein and calcium loss.
Because fat can reduce uric acid secretion, people with high uric acid levels should try to choose skim milk or low-fat milk.
soda
soda can neutralize uric acid and people with high uric acid can drink it in moderation.
However, we should choose natural soda water that contains sodium bicarbonate and avoid artificial soda water. Many artificial soda juices contain sweeteners and flavorings, and are not recommended for drinking.
You should also be careful not to drink too much soda, otherwise the amount of sodium intake will exceed the standard, which is also not good for your health.
Alcoholic drinks
Alcohol not only promotes the absorption of purines but also causes the body to produce more lactic acid, which means it will compete to reduce uric acid excretion. Therefore, people with high uric acid levels should strictly abstain from alcohol.
