Cholesterol levels
The first metric to check if your heart is healthy is whether your cholesterol levels are under control. Cholesterol plays an essential role in your body, but high levels of bad cholesterol (LDL) can increase your risk of plaque buildup in your arteries, leading to heart disease.
Blood pressure
Blood pressure measures the pressure of blood acting on the artery walls as your heart pumps blood. A normal blood pressure reading is usually around 120/80 mmHg.
Resting heart rate
One of the most important signs of a healthy heart is a normal resting heart rate (the number of times your heart beats per minute while you rest). According to experts, for a healthy heart, a person's resting heart rate must be between 60 - 100 beats per minute.
Good exercise endurance
Exercise endurance refers to how well your cardiovascular system can handle physical stress, such as brisk walking, jogging, swimming, or cycling.
Take a break
Look at your breathing style to see if your heart is functioning well. Regular, uncomfortable breathing, both at rest and during physical activity, is a reliable sign that your heart is supplying enough oxygen to your body.
Weight
Excess weight can put pressure on the heart, increasing the risk of heart disease. A body mass index (BMI) of 18.5 - 24.9 is considered healthy. If you are in this range and maintain an active lifestyle, it is a good sign that your heart is likely to be very healthy.
