Here are some tips from medical expert Dr NR Shetty on how to take care of your health during winters.

- Healthy diet

A healthy diet is the foundation of good health, especially in winter.

- Drink enough water

Drinking enough water helps lubricate joints, especially for people with arthritis.

- Dress appropriately

Keep your body warm to avoid illnesses such as colds and hypothermia.

- Wash your hands often

Wash your hands regularly with soap to remove bacteria and prevent the spread of infections.

- Get enough sleep

Good quality sleep helps the body recover and fight off illness. So aim for 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night.

- Exercise regularly

Exercise keeps you healthy, aids blood circulation and ensures flexibility in your joints.

- Avoid crowds

Avoid crowds whenever possible or wear a mask to limit the spread of infectious diseases.

- Avoid allergens

Indoor allergens, such as dust, mold, and pet dander, can cause a number of illnesses, so keep your home clean and tidy.

- Sunbathing

Try to spend more time outdoors during midday when the sunlight is strongest.

- Limit sugar and alcohol

Excessive sugar and alcohol can suppress the immune system, making it difficult for the body to fight infections.
