The extended April 30 and May 1 holidays are a time for people to have fun and travel outdoors. However, the hot weather in the southern provinces also caused many people to experience redness and sunburn after being exposed to the sun for too long.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Giang (Long An province) shared that after a day of visiting Ho Chi Minh City with her family, her face and arms became red and burning.
"I have applied sunscreen since morning, but because I go out all day, I do not apply it back. When I got home at night, I saw red skin burning, especially in my neck and arms. I had to apply moisturizer immediately to soothe my skin. Now, learn from experience that wherever you go, you have to cover your body carefully, bring sunscreen to apply more often" - Ms. Giang shared.
Sharing how to deal with sunburn, Dr. Pham Thi Thanh Giang - Department of Dermatology, Ho Chi Minh City Dermatology Hospital recommends cooling damaged skin with a cold towel or cool water (not using ice directly).
Moisturize with moisturizer, aloe vera gel, panthenol cream or skin soothing products, avoid using cosmetics containing alcohol and flavorings.
Doctor Thanh Giang emphasized that if the skin is swollen, do not arbitrarily collect water balls, do not apply corticosteroid medicine without a doctor's instructions. Always remember to recover your skin by drinking plenty of water, adding fresh fruits, especially those that are rich in vitamin C.
If you have symptoms of fever, dizziness, nausea, widespread bulging, you should go to a medical facility immediately for treatment support. Especially pay attention to children and the elderly, because their skin is more sensitive, so they need to be protected more carefully in hot weather like this.
