Stress not only affects the spirit but also quickly manifests on the skin. From acne to early wrinkles, the face is often the most obvious reflection of prolonged stress.
In modern life, psychological pressure is increasingly common. When the body is constantly stressed, stress hormones can disrupt blood circulation, stimulate sebaceous glands and hinder skin's ability to recover, causing many skin problems to appear or become more serious.
According to Dr. Ruben Bhasin Passi, dermatologist at CK Birla Hospital (Gurugram, India), stress is not only a mental burden but also directly affects physical health, in which the skin is often the organ most affected early and clearly.
Acne breakout
When stressed, the body increases the secretion of cortisol hormone, stimulating sebaceous glands to function strongly. Excess oil easily blocks pores, leading to acne, even in people who have rarely experienced this problem before.

Dark skin, lifeless
Prolonged stress reduces blood circulation, making the skin not adequately oxygenated and nutritious. The consequence is that the skin becomes tired, less bright and uneven in color.
Dark circles and puffy eyes
Stress often comes with insomnia. Lack of sleep makes blood vessels under the eyes more visible, causing dark circles, and also making the eye area easily swollen.
Wrinkles appear early
Stress promotes the decline of collagen and elastin, two components that help firm the skin. Therefore, small wrinkles can appear early, especially on the forehead, corners of the eyes and around the mouth.
Dermatology recurrence
For people with chronic skin diseases such as eczema, psoriasis or rosacea, stress can worsen the symptoms due to weakened skin barriers.
Dry and sensitive skin
Stress reduces skin's ability to retain moisture, making skin dry, flaky and more irritable to cosmetics or environmental factors.
Jaw muscle strain, forehead wrinkles
Many people have a habit of gritting their teeth or frowning when stressed. This situation, if prolonged, easily creates wrinkles on the forehead and makes the face always look tired.
Notes
Stress leaves many obvious signs on the face. Therefore, besides skin care, controlling stress by getting enough sleep, exercising, eating healthy and relaxing mentally is an important factor in maintaining healthy skin.
