Dengue fever (SXHD) is still one of the infectious diseases that cause a great burden in Vietnam, with hundreds of thousands of cases each year. The disease is becoming more complicated, occurring all year round, accompanied by many dangerous complications, and can even lead to death if not detected and treated promptly.
In the first 6 months of 2025 alone, the country recorded nearly 23,000 cases of dengue fever, including 5 deaths. In Hai Duong province, since the beginning of the year, the whole province has recorded 25 cases (no deaths), a decrease of 15 cases compared to the same period in 2024. However, the locality is currently entering the peak period every year, the risk of cases increasing sharply in the coming time is very high if not strictly controlled.
To proactively prevent and control epidemics, the health sector recommends that people strictly implement disease prevention measures. Specifically, it is necessary to maintain clean environment, clear forest dust, clear sewers, kill mosquitoes, mosquito larvae/river - the main cause of disease transmission. Sleeping on your stomach, especially during the day, is one of the simple but effective measures to prevent mosquito bites.
For diseases that can be prevented with vaccines, people should proactively fully vaccinate children and themselves. In addition, it is necessary to increase resistance through exercise, a nutritious diet and reasonable rest.
The health sector also emphasized that when there are suspicious symptoms such as high fever, headache, muscle pain, nausea or subcutaneous bleeding, people should not subjectively self-treat at home but need to go to a medical facility immediately for timely examination and treatment to avoid dangerous complications.
Proactively preventing and combating dengue fever is not only the responsibility of the health sector but also requires the cooperation of the entire community to protect the health of oneself, one's family and society.
