More than 56,000 visits, bed occupancy rate always exceeds 100%
On June 26, 2026, Bach Mai Hospital Ninh Binh facility officially went into operation. With a scale of 1,000 beds, the facility operates under the "One Bach Mai - Two facilities" model, in agreement with Hanoi facilities on expertise, human resources, management and treatment quality.
After 1 month of operation, the hospital has received 56,492 outpatient visits, of which 52,005 visits were on request.
In the field of inpatient treatment, the hospital received 5,562 patients, with 4,599 people discharged after stable treatment. Paraclinical activities also took place with high intensity when nearly 485,600 test samples and more than 40,300 diagnostic imaging sessions were performed using modern techniques such as X-ray, CT and MRI.
In particular, the team of doctors and nurses successfully performed 1,233 surgeries, including 296 emergency cases and 98 critical emergency cases, contributing to saving many patients in "golden time".
One of the notable points after the first month of operation is that the bed occupancy rate is always above 100%.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Xuan Co - Director of Bach Mai Hospital, at one point Ninh Binh facility treated up to 1,150 inpatients, exceeding the initial design scale.
Treatment needs are concentrated in many specialties such as General Surgery, Neurology, Gastroenterology - Hepatology, Cardiology, Nuclear Medicine and Oncology, Obstetrics, Hematology and Blood Transfusion. The Cardiology Department alone regularly treats about 150 patients even though only 100 beds are arranged; The Surgery Department has more than 100 patients on a scale of 80 beds.
One Bach Mai - Two Foundations" model
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Xuan Co said that Bach Mai Hospital is operated according to the "One Bach Mai - Two facilities" model. Two facilities in Hanoi and Ninh Binh are not two independent hospitals but a unified entity in terms of management, finance, human resources, expertise and treatment quality.
To ensure uniform professional quality, the hospital has mobilized about 1,300 professors, doctors, nurses, technicians and experienced logistics staff to work directly at the Ninh Binh facility. Thanks to that, people have access to medical examination and treatment quality equivalent to the Hanoi facility right in their locality. Interconnected management between the two facilities also helps patients to be more convenient when transferring to another level without having to redo many administrative procedures.
One patient, one code, one journey" is the motto the hospital is aiming for to build a more convenient, modern and professional medical examination and treatment process.
