On the afternoon of July 9, Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and the Central working delegation visited and worked with Bach Mai Hospital in Ninh Binh, encouraging the team of doctors, employees and patients being treated here.
At the hospital rooms, the Prime Minister directly visited, encouraged and presented gifts to many inpatients.
The Head of Government shared the difficulties of patients, and at the same time wished patients to be assured of treatment and believe in the professional qualifications of the team of doctors.

Many patients expressed their emotion when the Prime Minister directly visited them. Patients also acknowledged the dedication of the medical staff at the new facility from the early days of operation.
Working with the working delegation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Xuan Co - Secretary of the Party Committee, Director of Bach Mai Hospital - said that putting the Ninh Binh facility into operation is an important step to realize the policy of bringing specialized medical techniques closer to the people, reducing pressure on end-line hospitals in Hanoi.
According to hospital leaders, after only nearly two weeks of operation, Ninh Binh facility has recorded a number of patients exceeding expectations. The hospital received 27,598 outpatient visits, an average of more than 2,300 visits per day, with nearly 3,000 visits per day. In parallel with that, the paraclinical system performed more than 204,000 test samples, more than 24,000 ultrasounds and nearly 17,700 diagnostic imaging visits using X-rays, CT, MRI.
In the inpatient treatment block, the hospital received 2,434 patients, the bed occupancy rate always reached over 100%. To date, more than 1,000 patients are being treated at the hospital. During this time, the hospital has discharged or transferred 1,459 patients for treatment, of which more than 1,000 patients were discharged in stable condition.

In particular, in just the first 12 days, the teams successfully performed 395 surgeries, including 98 emergency cases, affirming their ability to handle severe cases right in the locality.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Xuan Co, the biggest effect that the Ninh Binh facility brings is shortening the distance to access high-quality medical services, helping many patients receive emergency care in the "golden time" that they previously had to be transferred to Hanoi.
Right on the opening night, the hospital activated the red alert, successfully performing emergency surgery for a severe spinal injury patient. In the following days, doctors continued to intervene in revascular recirculation for acute stroke patients, coronary intervention to save acute myocardial infarction patients, and successfully performed complex open-heart surgery combined with ECMO for an 80-year-old patient with heart shock.
These results show that Ninh Binh facility has gradually mastered many specialized techniques that were previously only performed regularly at the main facility in Hanoi, contributing to improving the ability to save patients right in the locality.
Speaking at the working session, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung highly appreciated the spirit of responsibility and efforts of the collective of officials and medical staff of Bach Mai Hospital in the context of a very large workload but still ensuring the quality of medical examination and treatment and patient safety.
The Prime Minister emphasized that putting Bach Mai Hospital in Ninh Binh branch into operation has strategic significance in developing the national health system, contributing to reducing overload for end-line hospitals in Hanoi, and at the same time creating conditions for people in the Southern Red River Delta region to access high-tech medical services right in the locality.
According to the Prime Minister, if the country wants to develop quickly and sustainably, people must be provided with healthcare by a modern, fair, efficient and accessible healthcare system. Therefore, the development of high-quality health centers in localities is not only of professional significance but also an important task in the country's development strategy.
To promote the effectiveness of the new facility, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Health to continue to remove obstacles in mechanisms, create conditions for Bach Mai Hospital to promote autonomy, innovate management in a modern direction. At the same time, the hospital needs to focus on developing key specialties, promote digital transformation, improve quality and patient safety according to international standards.
In addition to the task of medical examination and treatment, the Prime Minister also requested Bach Mai Hospital in Ninh Binh to promote its role as a training, scientific research and technology transfer center for the regional health system, contributing to improving the professional capacity of lower-level hospitals.
