Patients are given emergency care and treatment in a golden time
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Xuan Co - Director of Bach Mai Hospital - said that after 13 days since officially opening and receiving patients (June 26), Ninh Binh facility has met the high-quality medical examination and treatment needs of people in the Southern Red River Delta and North Central provinces, gradually affirming the effectiveness of the model "Two facilities - One hospital - One professional standard".
On average, Bach Mai Hospital Ninh Binh facility receives about 2,000 outpatient visits per day. To date, the total number of visits has exceeded 27,000.
In the inpatient treatment block, the bed occupancy rate is always very high. Although designed with a scale of about 1,000 beds, the hospital's electronic management system records a time when there are up to 1,005 inpatients.

The commissioning of key specialties such as Emergency, Intensive Care, Surgery, Cardiology and Neurology has helped many cases of stroke and myocardial infarction to be intervened immediately during "golden hours", enhancing the opportunity to save patients' lives.
Compared to the facility in Hanoi, Bach Mai Hospital in Ninh Binh has many advantages in terms of treatment space. While the Hanoi facility has an area of about 12ha with nearly 4,000 beds, the Ninh Binh facility is 21ha wide, with a scale of about 1,000 beds.
Ninh Binh facility has an area nearly double that of Hanoi facility, but the number of patients is only about 1/4, so the treatment space is more spacious and airy. Currently, some departments have a high number of inpatients such as Surgery, Cardiology, Neurology..." - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Xuan Co said.
According to the leader of Bach Mai Hospital, thanks to the high-speed traffic system, people from Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh or neighboring provinces such as Thai Binh, Hung Yen, Hai Duong... only take about 1-2 hours to get to the hospital. This helps many cases of cardiovascular emergency and stroke to access early treatment.
Many patients shared that before, every time they went to Hanoi for medical examination and treatment was a hard journey, now the hospital is only a few dozen kilometers away from home, traveling and taking care of them is much more convenient. That is what makes us very excited" - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Xuan Co said.
Transferring 1,300 medical staff to new facilities
To operate the Ninh Binh facility, Bach Mai Hospital has mobilized about 1,300 professors, doctors, nurses, technicians and logistics staff from Hanoi to work.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Xuan Co, the hospital has developed many policies to ensure income, support life and create career development opportunities for the outsourced staff.
In addition to ensuring income and having reward policies, officials who complete their tasks well are also prioritized to be sent for training, considered for early salary increases, appointed and included in the plan. The hospital also coordinates with local authorities to build official residences, support living and travel expenses according to regulations.
Our medical staff have shifted from the mentality of'must go' to the desire to'go' to contribute. Many professors, associate professors and leading experts, even though they no longer hold management positions, still volunteer to go to Ninh Binh to directly examine patients, consult and train the young generation" - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Xuan Co shared.
Orienting the development of traditional medicine and medical tourism
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Xuan Co, Bach Mai Hospital currently operates under a unified model between the two facilities, with a common management apparatus, a common financial platform and common professional standards.
Thanks to that, patients treated in Hanoi who need to be transferred to Ninh Binh will be implemented on the same management system without having to redo procedures from the beginning.
In addition, the health insurance settlement mechanism has also been removed when Vietnam Social Security assigned Hanoi City Social Insurance to directly settle for Ninh Binh facility, contributing to ensuring the stable operation of the hospital model of two facilities.
In the coming time, Bach Mai Hospital Ninh Binh facility will continue to develop traditional medicine specialties in the direction of combining with modern medicine to improve treatment efficiency.
Hospital leaders also said that, with the advantage of being located in a land with many scenic spots and heritage sites, Ninh Binh facility will research and develop a medical tourism model, aiming to attract domestic and foreign patients to come for medical examination and treatment combined with resort and sightseeing.
Not only performing the task of medical examination and treatment, Bach Mai Hospital in Ninh Binh is also oriented to become a center for training high-quality medical human resources. Bach Mai Hospital is proposing to the Government to allow a pilot establishment of Bach Mai University of Medicine and Pharmacy directly under the hospital.
