On June 10, news from Nam Cam Ranh Commune People's Committee said that there was a document responding to the petition of citizens of Binh Hung village related to the policy of stopping the operation of health stations on the island.
Previously, people in Binh Hung sent petitions requesting competent authorities to reconsider the suspension of the operation of the island's health station. According to reports, at the end of May 2026, a case of a pregnant woman giving birth on the island occurred in the context that the medical facility was no longer operating.
People said that moving from Binh Hung island to the mainland to get to the hospital requires traveling more than 20km.
In case of elderly people, young children or emergency cases occurring at night, the lack of an initial first aid point will pose many risks.
According to the People's Committee of Nam Cam Ranh commune, after more than a month of stopping the operation of Binh Hung station, through studying the petition and actual assessment, the locality found that the need to access initial health services of the people is necessary and legitimate.
The locality said that Binh Hung is an island area, moving to the Commune Health Station is difficult, especially in bad weather conditions, at night or when emergency cases arise.
On that basis, the Commune People's Committee directed specialized agencies to study and review actual needs, facilities conditions, human resources and current regulations to advise competent authorities to consider reopening Binh Hung station according to the correct order and procedures.
However, the locality also said that the establishment and maintenance of another health station point needs to meet the conditions on organizational structure, human resources, equipment, facilities and regular operating funds.
While healthcare human resources are currently limited, arranging personnel for new stations may affect the professional activities of commune health stations.
In addition, it is necessary to have a plan to ensure funding to maintain stable and long-term operations.
Therefore, relevant agencies need more time to study and comprehensively assess before advising competent authorities to decide.
In the immediate future, in order to meet the initial health care needs of the people, Nam Cam Ranh Commune People's Committee has directed the Health Station to arrange personnel to work at Binh Hung point (old Binh Hung sub-station) to perform first aid, monitor initial health, guide people to access necessary medical services and assist in handling emergency cases within their professional scope.
