On May 27, Dr. Chu Quoc Thinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Food Safety (Ministry of Health) issued a document requesting Shopee Company Limited and Lazada Vietnam E-commerce Company Limited to manage the business of functional foods in the e-commerce environment.
Through post-inspection work on registration of publications, self- wide publications, production and trading of functional foods, the Food Safety Department discovered that a number of products in the health protection food group such as Omega 3-6-9600mg, Natto Kinase 4,000fu, Estroven Complete Multi Sympton, Kirkland Glucosamine 1500mg & Chondroitin 1500mg, Glucosamine 1500mg With MSM 1500mg are being advertised and sold on Lazada and Shopee e-commerce platforms that have not been granted a Certificate of product declaration registration.
To protect consumers' health and ensure the production and trading of functional foods comply with the law, the Food Safety Department recommends that Lazada Vietnam E-commerce Company Limited and Shopee Company Limited strictly implement the following requirements:
Urgently review and only trade functional food products that have been granted a certificate of receipt of registration of the declaration by the competent state management agency or have been published on the food safety data information system according to regulations.
Stop trading immediately and remove information about violating products.
Report the results in writing to the Department of Food Safety - Ministry of Health before May 30, 2025.
This is to ensure consumer rights, while enhancing the management responsibility of e-commerce platforms in the field of functional foods, contributing to building a transparent and safe e-commerce market.
