Regarding the death case caused by Influenza A/H1pdm, on October 23, Mr. Le Quang Hung - Director of Binh Dinh Department of Health - said that this was an isolated case. Influenza A/H1pdm is a type of seasonal flu but not a dangerous type. However, the unit has also monitored and supervised the epidemic.
On the same day, speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Truyen - Director of the Center for Disease Control of Binh Dinh province said that every year, there are patients infected with Influenza A/H1pdm, which is considered a form of seasonal flu. For people with underlying diseases and weak immunity, when infected with Influenza A/H1pdm, it can progress to a serious condition, with the risk of death.
"Since the beginning of the year, Binh Dinh has discovered 3 cases of A/H1pdm flu. The recent death was due to the disease being too severe, complications, and septic shock, so the patient did not survive.
This type of flu virus also has the ability to spread quickly, becoming a major epidemic. However, currently, the rate of immunity in the community to this type of flu is quite high. The cases of flu are also mild," said Mr. Truyen.
The Director of the Center for Disease Control of Binh Dinh province recommends: "This is an epidemic that can be transmitted from person to person and from animal to person, so when a case is detected, it is necessary to check and monitor outbreaks and handle environmental sanitation to prevent spread.
To prevent this type of flu, you must increase your resistance and get a seasonal flu vaccine every year. Preventive measures include: wearing a mask when in crowded places, limiting contact with people with the flu, personal hygiene...".
