Previously, on July 28, as soon as a baby girl with open abdominal defect was discovered in the delivery room, Cam Ranh Regional General Hospital transferred the patient to Khanh Hoa General Hospital for treatment.
After receiving the patient, doctors of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Department of Pediatrics immediately proceeded to resuscitate, infuse fluids, use antibiotics and insert a gastric tube.
The exposed intestines are protected with a damp sterile gauze combined with plastic film to limit the risk of heat loss and fluid loss.

In the first 3 days, the baby was ventilated, muscle relaxed and sedated to control abdominal pressure. After that, the condition stabilized, abdominal pressure did not increase when quitting the machine.
However, the patient continued to face infection, poor bowel function and post-operative paralysis. The baby could not digest milk, and his abdomen was swollen.
Doctors deployed intravenous feeding through central infusion, and at the same time supported the digestive tract with drainage and intestinal recirculation measures.
After many days of treatment, the patient's condition gradually improved.
