On April 28, the Vietnam - Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital announced that it had just successfully saved a patient with a cerebral infarction thanks to timely emergency care in "golden time".
Previously, Mr. N.V.H (67 years old, residing in Bo Trach district) showed signs of a stroke and was quickly approached by medical staff, given first aid and transferred directly to the hospital.
Here, the doctors diagnosed the patient with cerebral infarction and prescribed the use of blood thinners. This is a special drug that helps break blood clots that clog cerebral blood vessels - the main cause of stroke.
According to Dr. Hoang Minh Huy, Department of Intensive Care - Anti-Poison, the patient was taken to the hospital only about 30 minutes after symptoms started, right in the "golden time" of less than 4.5 hours to treat thrombosis.
After treatment, patient H had good progress, reduced difficulty speaking, and improved hand and foot muscles. Doctor Huy also warned that cerebral infarction is a dangerous condition that can cause death or leave many serious sequelae such as paralysis, loss of speech, and loss of memory. Therefore, every moment of emergency care is very important.
People are advised to quickly contact the emergency room for early intervention when they have symptoms such as loss of balance, facial deformities, weak limbs, difficulty speaking or inability to speak. At the same time, regular health check-ups will help detect risk factors early.
Vietnam - Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital said that since 2019, the hospital's Stroke Team has been established, including 3 departments: Emergency, Intensive Care - Anti-Poisoning and imaging Diagnosis, contributing to the timely treatment of many stroke cases in the province and surrounding areas.
