Dak Lak - The health sector will allocate vaccine resources to widely implement vaccination for children and pregnant women in the province.

On January 28, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee informed that the health sector will organize monthly vaccinations at 185 vaccination points across the province for children and pregnant women.

Accordingly, children under 1 year old will be vaccinated against hepatitis B within 24 hours after birth at medical facilities. This group of children will also be vaccinated with 8 basic immunization vaccines.

Children from 18 months old will be vaccinated against measles/rubella, diphtheria, whooping cough, and tetanus.Pregnant women will be vaccinated against tetanus.

Mr. Hoang Hai Phuc - Director of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) of Dak Lak province said: "The expanded immunization program deployed in the area on a regular scale is very meaningful.Children will be vaccinated with basic vaccines, ensuring their immune system against common diseases".

According to Mr. Phuc, the vaccination activity helps children in remote areas and ethnic minorities to ensure their health.Thereby, avoiding deaths due to infectious diseases.

In fact, the implementation of vaccination in the area still has many difficulties.Because the awareness of a part of the people is still limited.

They are not aware of the importance of the expanded immunization program. Some local authorities have not been resolute in directing and implementing vaccination for children.

"The provincial health sector maintains regular and fixed vaccination campaigns to ensure vaccination for children.Vaccine sources will be guaranteed and evenly distributed to localities, but priority will still be given to remote areas and ethnic minority areas," Mr. Phuc added.
