About 15 minutes before being admitted to the emergency room, male patient T.C.T (66 years old, Ha Nam) was working and suddenly lost consciousness, fainted, and had poor response to calls. It is known that the patient did not fall or hit anything.
The patient was quickly taken to the emergency room by his family. Faced with the critical condition, the medical team urgently performed emergency surgery to intubate the patient to protect his airway, administer a balloon pump, and inject medication to control his blood pressure.
After the blood pressure was controlled and vital signs were ensured, the interdisciplinary team of doctors gathered for an emergency consultation. The patient underwent an electrocardiogram, tests, and a brain CT scan. The results concluded that Mr. T had a pontine hemorrhage and a hypertensive crisis.
Fortunately, after 15 minutes of effort from the entire team, the dangerous situation was initially controlled, and vital signs were stable. The patient was transferred to a higher-level hospital for further treatment.
Directly commanding the emergency team, Master, Doctor Pham Duy Hung - Deputy Head of Internal Medicine Department, Emergency Resuscitation Department, Medlatec General Hospital said: “Hemorrhagic stroke is one of the most common and dangerous stroke conditions. People with hemorrhagic stroke, if not treated promptly, can lead to death, or serious complications such as lifelong disability. Therefore, people should absolutely not be subjective when seeing signs of sudden loss of consciousness in their loved ones and need to take them to the nearest medical facility for timely emergency care.”
According to Master, Doctor Pham Duy Hung, cerebral hemorrhage is a serious health condition that can lead to many complications, including: death, lifelong disability, language disorders, hydrocephalus syndrome, and meningitis.
Doctors say that early recognition of hemorrhagic stroke symptoms will help people handle the situation promptly, thereby increasing the survival rate and limiting complications for patients.
According to statistics, more than 80% of cases of cerebral hemorrhage are caused by high blood pressure.
