The liver must work overloaded if these foods are used regularly

HUYỀN TRANG |

Some foods containing a lot of sugar, fat or alcohol can increase the metabolic burden on the liver if used regularly.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. BS Bui Thi Nhung - Vice President of the Vietnam Nutrition Association, Head of the Nutrition Department of Sun Hospital, the liver is the organ responsible for the metabolism of nutrients.

To limit pressure on the liver, people should limit some of the following foods:

1. Do not use too much alcohol and beer

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thi Nhung, alcohol and beer are one of the factors that directly affect the liver. When introduced into the body, the alcohol in alcohol and beer will be metabolized by the liver, but if used regularly or exceeding the allowed level, the liver must work continuously in a state of overload.

This can increase the risk of liver cell damage, leading to fatty liver, alcoholic hepatitis and in the long term can progress to cirrhosis.

2. Limit sugary foods

Soft drinks, milk tea, sugary drinks, along with cakes and candies are foods that people should limit.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thi Nhung, regular consumption of these foods can increase the process of fat synthesis in the body, thereby increasing the risk of fatty liver and creating additional burdens for the liver's metabolism.

Instead, people should prioritize filtered water, fresh fruits and low-sugar foods to protect their health.

3. Do not abuse fast food and high-fat foods

Fried dishes, fast food, and greasy foods are often high in energy but low in nutritional value. If used regularly, these foods can easily increase the risk of overweight, obesity, and fat accumulation in the liver.

Experts recommend using only limited amounts and prioritizing fresh food.

4. Processed foods or other groups

Sausages, canned meat, bacon and processed foods are often high in salt, fat and additives. Regular consumption of these foods can increase the burden on the liver's metabolism and affect health if prolonged.

People should limit the use of processed foods, instead prioritizing fresh and simple-processed foods to maintain a scientific diet.
