According to the Ministry of Health, in the 3 days before the Lunar New Year holiday, medical facilities across the country received many cases of examination and emergency treatment due to digestive disorders, poisoning from homemade food and alcohol intoxication. From January 25-27, a total of 247 cases of examination and emergency treatment related to food poisoning and digestive disorders were recorded.
Medical facilities nationwide have strictly followed the Ministry of Health's instructions on strengthening medical examination and treatment during Tet. Hospitals ensure 24/7 emergency care, maintain expertise and fully report on their operations.
Statistics on medical examination and treatment: From 7:00 a.m. on January 26 to 7:00 a.m. on January 27, medical facilities nationwide have implemented:
Examination, emergency: 81,887 patients.
Inpatient admissions: 24,969 patients.
Hospital transfer: 2,294 cases.
Emergency surgery: 2,618 cases, including 386 surgeries due to accidents.
In addition, doctors and nurses successfully delivered babies and performed cesarean sections, welcomed 2,197 babies during Tet and discharged 24,615 patients to return home to reunite with their families.
During the first 3 days of the holiday, the number of suspected traffic accident patients coming for examination and emergency care reached 12,557 cases, including: 3,823 cases requiring hospitalization or monitoring; 979 cases transferred to higher levels for treatment; 66 deaths (including deaths before arriving at medical facilities and death prognosis requests).
During the first 3 days of Tet holiday, medical facilities nationwide examined and provided emergency care to 728,836 patients; performed surgeries on 11,262 patients; discharged 139,552 patients. Currently, 129,596 patients continue to be treated at medical facilities.
The Ministry of Health also said that on January 27, 21 emergency cases related to firecrackers were recorded, including 10 cases requiring hospitalization due to firecrackers and fireworks. In addition, there were 6 emergency cases due to homemade weapons and other explosives, but only 2 cases required inpatient treatment.
In total, during the first 3 days of Tet holiday, the whole country recorded 63 emergency cases due to firecrackers and 16 accidents due to homemade weapons and explosives, with no deaths.
The Ministry of Health assessed that the epidemic situation is stable, with no outbreaks or clusters of dangerous infectious diseases detected in the community during the first days of the Lunar New Year holiday.
Medical facilities have been fully prepared with medicines and medical supplies to serve medical examination and treatment and epidemic prevention. As of 12:00 on January 27, there have been no reports of medicine shortages or unusual price increases.
During the 3-day Tet holiday, there was no information reflecting fluctuations in prices or quality of drugs at medical facilities nationwide.
