For the past few months, although her eyes have gradually blurred, Ms. Luu Thi Tra (67 years old, Hong Van commune) still thought it was an age sign, so she tried to endure it. Only when she participated in the free periodic health check-up program organized by the locality did she realize that she had cataracts and flesh palpitations in both eyes.
Holding the examination results in her hand, Ms. Tra could not hide her surprise: "If it weren't for this examination, I would still think my blurred vision was due to age. Luckily, the disease was detected early, and the doctors advised me on a suitable treatment direction.
Not only Ms. Tra, Mr. Vu Cuong (50 years old, Hong Van commune) was also surprised to learn that he had high blood pressure even though he was still living normally. The previous headaches, dizziness or dizziness were all considered by him to be the impact of the weather.
After being consulted by the doctor, I understood that many diseases progress very silently. From now on, I will maintain regular health check-ups to monitor my health," Mr. Cuong shared.
Cases like Ms. Tra or Mr. Cuong show the practical meaning of the universal periodic health check-up program that Hanoi is implementing. Not only early detection of non-communicable diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular disease or eye diseases, the program also contributes to changing people's awareness, gradually shifting from the habit of "seeing doctors when sick" to proactively monitoring and taking care of health.
Universal periodic health check-ups are a specific step to concretize the policy of putting people at the center of health care according to Resolution 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo and Action Program No. 06 of the Hanoi Party Committee.
According to Mr. Uong Dinh Hung, Vice Chairman of Hong Van Commune People's Committee, the locality has mobilized departments and branches to coordinate propaganda, make lists and organize examinations for each group of subjects. Data collected from the program will help the locality assess the disease model, thereby building healthcare solutions suitable to the actual needs of the people.
Right on the first day of implementation, about 400 people were given general check-ups, performed necessary tests and diagnoses. Cases with abnormal signs were advised for treatment or transferred for in-depth examination. All results were updated into electronic health records on the VNeID application, serving long-term health management and monitoring.
BSCKII Nguyen Anh Tien, Deputy Director of Thuong Tin General Hospital, said that the unit is coordinating to implement health check-ups in many communes with nearly 170,000 people under examination. The hospital has mobilized maximum human resources, equipment and organized weekend check-ups, in order to create the most favorable conditions for people to participate.
Regular health check-ups help people proactively protect their health, detect diseases early, and reduce treatment costs. When the habit of regular check-ups is formed, the goal of shifting from treating diseases to proactive disease prevention will gradually become a reality, creating a foundation for a healthy and sustainable capital.
