On August 15, the Hue City Department of Health said that in the past, the mass media has continuously reported on the situation of streptococcal disease in people in the city, however, there is still inaccurate, unobject information that has not been verified, and misunderstandings about the situation of streptococcal disease in people, causing confusion among local people and tourists when coming to Hue.
According to statistics from the Hue City Department of Health, from the beginning of the year to August 13, the whole city recorded 42 cases of streptococcus liver disease in 18 communes/wards and 4 deaths.
Of which, from January to May 2025, there were 6 cases; June 2025, there were 16 cases (1 death); July 2025, there were 19 cases (3 deaths); 13 days in early August 2025, there was 1 case.
Thus, the situation of streptococcal diseases in Hue City has increased dramatically compared to previous years, especially in the period from late June to early July 2025.
After that, the number of cases gradually decreased, from the beginning of July 2025 and continuously for 18 days (from July 24 to August 11) no cases were recorded, until August 12, 2025, only 1 case of streptococcal disease reappeared.
All cases were admitted and treated at Hue Central Hospital (39 cases at facility 1 and 3 cases at facility 2), of which 2 cases were detected at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital and were transferred to Hue Central Hospital for treatment.
Currently, there are 13 cases still being treated at Hue Central Hospital. The deaths are due to old age, serious underlying diseases or coming to the hospital very late, when the disease is too serious.
To prevent and control the swine fever, the Hue City health sector recommends that people do not slaughter or consume sick or dead pork; absolutely do not eat pork offal or undercooked pork. Only buy meat that has been quarantined by veterinary medicine; use gloves, glasses, boots when touching or processing raw pork; do not treat raw meat with open wounds if not covered and disinfected.
The Hue City Department of Health also recommends that people do not panic or "bo away" from pork, because streptococcus Cervical disease can be completely prevented if eaten cooked, drunk boiled water and choose quarantined products.
