HUE - Hue City launches Action Month for Food Safety 2026, increases inspection and tightens management of street food.

On the afternoon of April 21, the Hue City Inter-sectoral Steering Committee for Food Safety organized a conference to launch the Action Month for Food Safety 2026 with the theme: "Ensuring food safety, preventing food poisoning in food services and street food".

Speaking at the conference, Ms. Ton Thi Nga - Deputy Director of Hue City Department of Health said that in recent years, food safety assurance has achieved many positive results. Propaganda, inspection, and examination activities have been promoted; the awareness of people and production and business establishments has been gradually improved.

However, the risk of food insecurity is still latent, especially in the field of food services and street food - where there are large numbers of establishments, safety assurance conditions are still limited, and it is difficult to control synchronously.

According to the leader of the Department of Health, the Action Month for Food Safety is an opportunity to assess the current situation, thereby proposing effective implementation solutions; and at the same time affirming that ensuring food safety is the responsibility of the whole society.

At the conference, Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Tran Huu Thuy Giang requested units to strengthen state management responsibility for food safety; promote propaganda and guidance on safe food production, processing, preservation and consumption.

Hue City leaders also requested the establishment of inter-sectoral teams to inspect food production, business, and processing establishments; strictly handle violations to minimize the risk of food poisoning and foodborne diseases.
