According to the Hung Yen Provincial Department of Health, based on Decision No. 3756/QD-BYT on non-communicable disease prevention and Decision No. 3792/QD-BYT of the Ministry of Health promulgating professional documents guiding cervical cancer control, the Hung Yen Provincial Center for Disease Control is urgently completing preparations to implement the community pre-cancerous cervical cancer screening plan in 2026.
This professional activity aims to raise awareness of reproductive health self-care for women, and at the same time proactively detect early cervical cytological abnormalities to promptly handle them from an early stage, contributing to reducing the incidence and mortality rate from cervical cancer in the province.
According to the planned plan, the campaign will take place from September 29 to October 30, 2026, targeting 1,500 women aged 21 to 65 who have had sex and are currently living and working in 15 communes and wards in the province.
To make examination activities highly effective and create the most favorable conditions for people, the Provincial Center for Disease Control closely coordinates with the People's Committees and Health Stations of localities in the work of compiling lists of subjects, arranging reception locations, preparing sufficient consumables, testing chemicals and assigning a team of obstetricians and gynecologists with professional certificates to directly perform technical procedures.
In the implementation process, the stage of returning test results and post-examination counseling is organized scientifically, confidentially and smoothly through the grassroots Health Station system. For cases with normal negative results, medical staff will advise on the periodic re-examination schedule according to the instructional protocol; cases of lower genital tract infections are prescribed on-site treatment and specific monitoring schedules are scheduled.
Notably, all cases suspected of precancerous lesions or detected with abnormal cell changes are consulted by a specialized team on treatment directions and guided to be transferred to specialized hospitals in a timely manner for in-depth tests and definitive treatment, preventing the risk of serious disease progression.
Cervical cancer is a malignant disease that can be completely prevented and cured if detected at the precancerous lesion stage through periodic cell screening methods.
The health sector recommends that women aged 21 to 65 in 15 communes and wards subject to implementation should proactively monitor the announcements of local health stations to register and arrange time to participate in screening on schedule.
Proactive screening not only protects the safety of life and happiness of each family, but is also a fundamental solution to strengthen the preventive health network, towards the goal of comprehensively improving population quality in the locality.
